Music at Grace
A monastic style of chant and a wide variety of church music touch a powerful chord deep within all of us. Music is a very special gift given and received at Grace, one which we hope provides spiritual inspiration.
We are truly blessed with the music of Anglo-Catholic worship and tradition, from Gregorian and Anglican chants to chorales and motets of the masters.
Each Sunday, Holy Day and season of the church year is filled with sung propers, Masses, Evensongs, hymns and liturgical responses by congregation, choir and appropriate instruments.
Our choir is an all-volunteer chorus under superb musical direction. Many of the 14 members have sung and developed together during the last 14 years nurtured by professional, caring and gifted leadership. Kyle Swann is our current organist and choirmaster, well known in Connecticut as pianist, organist, operatic director and accompanist.
Within the congregation there are also professional musicians who enhance choral and organ pieces with bassoon, flute, violin, harpsichord and recorders.
In 1998, the church launched a new musical series - Parkville Classicals, - concerts to introduce special talented groups of singers, ensembles and players to our neighbors and city friends. The free concerts, all held in the church, are sponsored by individuals and corporate patrons.
